How To Survive January In New England

Another January in Maine.

We pass our days in the lull of winter by snuggling deep into our blankets and doing cozy things. We dress in layers every morning to try to keep out the cold.

Layers are the most important thing you can have here when the temperature drops. And wool. These will protect you when the chill leaks in through the window panes and tries to steal the warmth from your bones.

Tea, coffee, and other hot drinks are irreplaceable. And although I’d prefer my parents’ woodstove to the fake fire we have, it really does the trick when my toes are tingling with cold. If you should find your way to Maine in the winter, keep these tips in mind.

Stay warm!
