New Reader? Start Here!

Hi! It’s nice to meet you!

I’d shake your hand, but you’re all the way over there and I’m all the way over here…the internet is tough like that.

I’m Julia. I live in New England with a very handsome man and our two furry little friends, Atlas and Hugo. My day job, if you will, is Media Management, event planning, and office assistance for an independently-owned natural foods store. I love what I do there, but I know that the one thing I’m really built for is making and sharing inspiration. So I also blog for Goodwill Industries International.

I’ve always been a dreamer and a maker, and I just can’t bother to fight it anymore. Normal jobs are not for me. I’ve come to that conclusion and I just have to try to make things work my own way. It’s a whole lot harder and much less predictable, but I just wasn’t happy at the end of the day when I was working for someone else and had no real handle on the way things were around me.

One of those things that I couldn’t really control in my other work settings was sustainability. I grew up on the lake and in the woods of New Hampshire, and the thought of my future children not having that same opportunity is just disgusting to me, so I’m going to try to run my work life the same way I run my private life — leaving as little an impact on the globe as I can.

To find out how I’m running my business greener have a look at this post. And to see what I’m doing about it in my own life check out this category.

Speaking of categories, if you look to your right there’s a big long list of them. Categories are things that I often write about. Have a look through those and click on any that interest you. You may find after awhile that you don’t really care about my Etsy-related posts (they tend to be pretty girl when they’re about things in my shop), but you might really enjoy my suggestions for upcycling!  This will help you narrow my posts down to those that you’ll really find an interest in and skip over the stuff that just doesn’t apply.

So that’s sort of who I am in a nutshell. I know it’ll change even more over time, and if you’re someone who knew me in the past you’re probably surprised at how much I already have changed! I love to think that this blog could be an opportunity for old friends to get to know me again. And I really hope that you don’t feel nervous or odd leaving comments for me — I love them!

Thanks for coming, by the way. I’m so happy to have you here!

I understand what you mean; when I got my first comment from someone I didnt’ know I was like “who, me!?” *looks around* I look forward to reading more of your blog! I hope to have photos up on my site soon, it’s pretty bare at the moment, so not much to see- :-s

I love to hear that since I put so much hard work into it. There are so many great blogs out there so sometimes I think mine gets lost! I really appreciate this comment 🙂

Love your ‘Cheeky Monkey’ fashion pose (head to left, ankle tilt, cheeky grin). As a Cheeky Monkey poser myself, I can honestly say yours works. Just found you, lady…will be checking in frequently! xx

Huh, I’ve never heard of the “cheeky monkey pose” before! A girl’s gotta stand some way, though, I suppose! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

So glad you found me! I went through this stage where I was very into Sweden. I’d love to see it for myself someday!
